Different Perspectives

Many people, such as William and his family, supported the evacuees and welcomed them into the community. However, this was not always the case. In William's story there a two contrasting views about the arrival of the evacuees. Firstly, William enjoys the evacuees company and thinks that them staying is very exciting, but on the other hand, Harold disagrees and finds the evacuees annoying and thinks that they are intruding and disrupting their community.

These two views were apparent everywhere where the evacuees stayed. Majority of the evacuees came to Devon because Devon is a very rural county in the countryside, so there was a huge challenge both for the evacuees, having to settle into their new environments, and the locals, who had to welcome and accept the evacuees staying with them.
