Welcome to the information central for Devon during World War 2. World War 2 had a huge impact on people throughout the country, but here we are focusing on the impact World War 2 had on Devon. We have investigated certain aspects of the war such as evacuation and the support of 'The Women's Land Army' in Devon. 

Devon played a big part in supporting and helping Britain during the war because it was an ideal area for training soldiers and practising landing operations. For example, the landing operations for D-Day, otherwise known as 'Exercise Tiger,' were practised on Slapton Sands, along the Devon coast. This was because Slapton Sands was similar to Utah Beach where D-Day would take place. 

Devon was vastly impacted in many ways, both negative and positive. Many things altered and different situations occured which changed the lives of the locals immensely.
